From the viewer’s point of view, the exterior paneling and the new windows will particularly catch the eye.

Above all, artists and technicians will benefit from the announced improvements.

The works include, in particular, the addition of storage areas, the modification of the ventilation and air conditioning system, the installation of sprinkler systems, the modification of the external cladding on three facades, the improvement of the insulation and the tightness of the building.

La Chapelle Spectacles executive director Sophie Lemelin believes this work will solve several functional problems. Employees sometimes had to go outside to access the reserves, even in winter, she says.

An extension will be built behind the stage, which will allow equipment to be accommodated on two floors. Storage space will also be provided under the stands.

The stone covering the current building will disappear, particularly because asbestos was present in the joints.

We’re changing the seal of approval a bit, but it still adds splendor to the landscape, it might give back its letters of nobility to its chapel, explains Sophie Lemelin.

closure during works

The construction site forces the event hall to be closed from June 5th to October 6th. The program is not disturbed too much because the room is usually closed for a month and a half during the summer period.

The shows scheduled for August and September are staged at the Théâtre Les Gros Becs, located in the Fleur de Lys shopping center about a kilometer away. The theater also has thirty more seats.
