Poirier was injured by a skate last Saturday in the game against the Abbotsford Canucks. He will be kept off the field indefinitely.
The 21-year-old full-back had an excellent start to the season before getting injured. In four games he found the net once and provided six assists for seven points.
The Valleyfield native also made a very good impression in the Flames’ training camp, even though he missed the start due to another injury.
Poirier was selected by the organization out of Alberta in the third round (72nd overall) in the 2020 draft. In his first professional season in 2022-2023, he collected nine goals and 32 assists for 41 points in 69 games with the Wranglers.
