A tourist boat with more than 20 people on board capsized on Lake Maggiore in northern Italy on Sunday, and several passengers were still missing in the evening, firefighters said. Nineteen people were rescued after the boat overturned off Lisanza, fire department spokesman Luca Cari told AFP.

Divers and a helicopter were searching for “several missing persons,” he added. Video released by the firefighters, published by the daily Corriere della Sera, shows the helicopter flying over choppy water where chairs and other debris were floating. According to Varese News, the 16-meter-long boat had been rented by tourists. The President of the Region of Lombardy, Attilio Fontana, complained of a “very serious incident” caused by a “hurricane”.
