Lance Stroll retires from Singapore

Quebecer Lance Stroll did not take part in the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday due to an accident the day before in qualifying.

Stroll hit the wall at the very end of a lap but escaped uninjured.

His Aston Martin team had a very difficult weekend as Fernando Alonso finished the race in 15th place after starting from seventh.

Alonso served his five-second penalty in the pits on lap 45. He also suffered a very slow stop in the paddock, which didn’t help his cause.

“We came here with high hopes, but Singapore is a pretty unique event. “The pace of the race is really dictated by the tire temperature and we may have gone a little too far,” said Alonso, whose words were quoted on Aston Martin’s website.

This is the first time this season that the Spanish driver has not won any points. He is currently in fourth place in the drivers’ standings, while Stroll is in ninth place in this ranking.

Sainz wins

Carlos Sainz won the Singapore Grand Prix in Sunday’s race after starting from first position.

The Ferrari team member ends a series of ten consecutive victories for Max Verstappen.

The latter ended his working day in 11th place.
