After a landslide, rail traffic in the French Alps is only possible to a limited extent. Regional connections in Savoy and trains between Chambéry and Turin, in Italy, will be canceled until at least Wednesday.

In southern France, a landslide has paralyzed some rail and road traffic near the Italian border.

French Deputy Transport Minister Clément Beaune tweeted successor X. The return to normality will take a few days.

For now, there are no trains running on the route between the French city of Chambéry and Turin, Italy, as well as on several regional rail routes. The outage will last at least until Wednesday, French railway company SNCF said.

Fréjus tunnel closed for trucks

City Hall announced that the affected secondary road and a nearby highway were closed. The Fréjus tunnel between France and Italy is closed to vehicles over 3.5 tonnes in both directions. Heavy vehicles have to take a detour.

A huge cloud of dust was seen in photos of the landslide on Sunday. French authorities said several boulders, each about 700 cubic meters in volume, collided with a protective structure. According to the SNCF, new landslides occurred on Monday night.
