A large residential fire raged near the Laugier Fund section of Pointe-à-Pitre. exactly in the rue Léonie Mêlas.
About twenty men from Guadeloupe’s Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) were quickly dispatched to the scene. Firefighters had a lot to do to deal with this disaster in a populated and cramped urban area.
However, around 4:40 p.m., after fighting the fire for about two hours, they succeeded by many means, including three maneuvering lances.
The only casualty is a volunteer firefighter; he was unwell and was given oxygen by his colleagues.
