Las Vegas judge acquits sex offender now accused of “racist” sexual assault on white student

A Las Vegas judge has been charged with the release on bail of a high-risk registered sex offender who allegedly continued to harass a 14-year-old boy – claiming the victim was targeted because he was white.

Judge Callany Hu has given bail to Willie Collins, 42, for just $ 1,500 last September after Collins was charged with robbery. 8NewsNow reported.

Hu did so despite being warned that Collins was a danger to society and that the convicted predator posed a risk of escape. Collins was also placed under house arrest, but appears to have violated the warrant in order to commit his latest alleged crime.

The pervert has previous convictions for child abuse, and one of his victims is a child with special needs.

Collins is then said to have struck again on February 24 after kidnapping a 14-year-old boy who was attending school.

Collins, who was carrying a GPS monitor at his ankle, pretended to be armed and then hit the young man in an alley where he was being harassed. It is alleged that the convicted pervert, who is black, later told the cops that he targeted the boy because it sucks.

Collins appeared in court on Friday to face a dozen charges, including sexual assault with a victim under the age of 16, beating with intent to commit sexual assault and kidnapping. He appeared before another judge and was eventually remanded in custody.

Police said Collins ordered the student to enter an alley and directed him to a garbage can, where he sexually assaulted him.

But the 14-year-old boy fought back and eventually managed to escape and call for help while Collins escaped on foot.

The police who responded to the scene reviewed the video monitor from the area and noticed the suspect with removed pants, revealing the ankle’s ankle monitor reported KTNV.

Investigators later found that the GPS monitor assigned to Collins after his release on bail last fall was in the area at the time of the sexual assault.

Detectives then went to Collins’ home, just a quarter of a mile from the crime scene, and arrested him at 12:30 p.m. No weapons were found with him.

Collins is listed on the Nevada sex offender registry as a result of a 2017 conviction on charges of open and gross adultery involving multiple children, one of whom had special needs.

His criminal history includes 15 previous arrests and more than a dozen convictions.

In September 2021, Collins was arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon.

When he appeared before a North Las Vegas court judge, Kalani Hu, in late September for a risk assessment hearing pending trial, Collins was said to be a high-risk offender and a risk of absconding.

But Judge Hu set Collins’ bail at $ 1,500 and allowed him to be released under house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor.

DailyMail.com turned to the court on Tuesday, seeking comment on the judge’s decision and awaiting a response.

In court on Friday, Collins looked upbeat, congratulating the presiding judge on a friendly “good morning.” After the appearance, the suspect thanked the judge, the district attorney and his public defender, adding: “Thank you, everyone here and I love you.”
