Las Vegas Sphere reports $98.4 million loss

LAS VEGAS.-La Esfera in Las Vegas reported an operating loss of $98.4 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30.

Chief Financial Officer Gautam Ranji has resigned, but the company assures it was not due to disagreements over accounting issues, the Las Vegas Sun reveals.

Ranji’s resignation was reportedly due to a discussion intensively with CEO James Dolan.

Greg Brunner will replace Ranji as interim CFO.

The $2.3 billion Sphere opened and generated near the Strip with U2’s residency Attention World.

The company hopes to attract more attention with the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Revenue for the quarter included $4.1 million from events such as U2’s sold-out concerts.

Additionally, $2.6 million was received for suite licenses and Advertising in the exosphere of the sphere.

Despite the losses, CEO Dolan is optimistic, stating that they are building positive momentum and are well positioned to generate Value long-term for shareholders.
