Latin Grammy 2023: Summary! Shakira is the big winner of the night; Karol G makes history and Brazilians shine in awards check it out!

This Thursday (16) took place the 24th edition of the Latin Grammys, an award that celebrates the excellence of Latin music and the best works released in the last year. The night’s big winners included Shakira, Karol G and Natalia Lafourcade. Laura Pausini and Antonio Banderas were also honored at the main ceremony.

Without a doubt, it was a girls’ night! Our queen Shakira appeared on stage several times during the big show. Including, of course, the awarding of his three Grammys! The Muse won the Song of the Year category for “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.” The hit by producer Bizarrap also won the award for “Best Pop Song”. Shaki also secured the right to request music on Fantástico by winning the trophy for “Best Urban Collaboration/Interpretation” for “TQG,” his performance. with Karol G. Karol actually made history by becoming the first woman to win Best Urban Album for “Mañana Will Be Bonito.” “I can’t believe this year’s award is a woman. This album is very special to me, we went through a lot to make this album,” he said, crying. The project also won one of the night’s main trophies, Album of the Year.

Major music and cinema stars were honored at the ceremony. Antonio Banderas received the “Presidency Award,” an honor given to him by Latin Recording Academy President Manuel Abud for promoting arts and culture in the world. “I need music as much as I need food. I remember “Evita” with Madonna. “I think of all my work with ‘Shrek’ and ‘Desperado’ and my happy years on Broadway,” the heartthrob commented.

The performances

The evening began with an emotional involvement from Rosalía. The muse brought tears to her eyes with her perfect singing in a cover of “Se Nos Rompió El Amor,” a song by Spanish artist Rocío Jurado.

Argentinian newcomer and firsttime Latin Grammy winner Bizarrap also rocked a dance performance. In addition to starring alongside rapper Milo J, Shakira showed off her grace as she performed the hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.” Speaking of the owner of our jam: The Colombian wowed the audience with a version of “Acrostic” and surprised the audience by having her children Milan and Sasha sing along.

Maluma Baby also wowed the audience with a sexy performance of “Según Quién” alongside Carin Leon. Oh daddy!

Newly crowned Person of the Year Laura Pausini took the stage with a 10member choir to perform a theatrical medley of her greatest hits. The Italian pop diva upped the drama with each song, starting with her ballad “Durar,” followed by “La Soledad,” “Viveme,” and “En Cambio No.” She even received a tribute from Rauw Alejandro.

Brazilians at the Grammys

Brazil also shined at the celebration in the categories dedicated to the Portuguese language. While Tiago Iorc won Best Song for “Tudo O Que A Fé Pode Tocar,” Gaby Amarantos won Best Roots Music Album in Portuguese with “TecnoShow.” Marília Mendonça also won a posthumous Grammy for Best Country Music Album for “Decretos Reais.”

Planet Hemp won two statuettes for “Best Rock or Alternative Music Album” and “Best Urban Interpretation” for the works “Jardineiros” and “Dystopia”. The trophy for “Best Contemporary Pop Album” went to “Em Nome da Estrela” by Xênia França. Finally, the “Best Samba/Pagoda Album” went to “Negra Ópera” by Martinho Da Vila and the “Best Brazilian Pop Music Album” went to “Serotonina” by João Donato.
