Miami, 11 August (EFE) .- The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation awarded this Thursday in Miami (Florida) the Sofía Carson scholarship to 19-year-old Venezuelan singer and student Valentina García, announcing scholarships for 43 music students around the world to “finance their education.

Garcia was awarded the Foundation’s Prodigy Grant from a pool of “hundreds of applicants from around the world” and will receive financial support of up to $200,000.

This scholarship will enable the Venezuelan to begin his studies at the renowned Berklee School of Music in Boston (Massachusetts) starting in the fall of next year.

“Year after year, we are honored by the quantity and quality of the applications we receive for our scholarships. It’s inspiring to see so many young people devoting themselves to their vocation to become future creators of Latin American music,” said Manuel Abud, General Director of the Latin Recording Academy.

For her part, Colombian-born singer-actress Sofía Carson said Valentina was “a brilliant and deserving young woman[of the scholarship]whose voice and talent” have “stunned” her.

Carson, global ambassador for the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, was honored to join this organization to award the scholarship to the Venezuelan and stressed that she hopes together they will continue to “amplify the powerful Latin American voices in all parts of the world.” and will rise”.

The foundation also announced the winners of the Talent Tuition Scholarships and Tuition Assistance Scholarships, which it awards annually and “gives 43 talented students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to study at some of the most prestigious music institutions in the world.”

The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2014 by the Latin Recording Academy to increase international interest and appreciation for the significant contributions of Latin music and its creators to world culture.
