The Irish actor, 27, won for his powerful performance as Stanley Kowalski after a sold-out run at the Almeida Theatre.

In his speech, Paul thanked his beloved mother Dearbhla, who is being treated for cancer, before adding, “I hope you’re feeling better.”

Addressing the diagnosis herself on social media, his mother previously told her followers that she started “living with cancer” after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer, in July 2022.
