- Which comedian inspires you the most and why?
Yvon Deschamps is still the role model to follow. I think I was very influenced by him. It’s a bit like the ideal to achieve. The trap would be wanting to make Deschamps. Only Yvon knows Deschamps, but we can draw inspiration from his sincerity, his kindness and his sense of provocation.
- Which comedy number made you laugh the most?
I don’t know if it’s the number that made me laugh the most, but it’s the idea I would have liked to have had. When Pierre Légaré took the stage at a gala with a number where there were only questions… and no answers. It has become one of his trademarks: unanswered questions. It’s a great concept.
- Which new generation comedian should you watch?
I’m a big fan of Megan Brouillard. She’s very young, she’s 24 years old I think, but she’s already very solid, she already has her own style and an always interesting point of view. I think it’s one of the future big names in humor.
- Why is humor important in 2023?
Humor is just as important in 2023 as it was in 1912 or 2004… or 2035. And not just on stage. Humor is important in life. We should be able to infuse everyone with a dose of humor and self-mockery, and the planet would be a little better off.
The ComedyHa! by Laurent Paquin, Wednesday, 7:45 p.m., at the Grand Théâtre, with Anthony Kavanagh, Sylvain Larocque, Rachelle Elie, Guillaume Wagner, Katherine Levac, Phil Roy, Jessica Chartrand, Eddy King, Tommy Néron and Billy Tellier.
