A 42-year-old man sitting at Rubs BBQ American restaurant in Laval was the target of multiple gunshots in the middle of dinner on Thursday in front of several stunned customers. His life is not in danger.

Around 7:05 p.m. Thursday night, a suspect entered Rubs BBQ American restaurant on Dagenais Boulevard West in Laval. He then opened fire and shot the victim seated in the facility multiple times before fleeing.
Customers were on site at the time of the altercation, confirmed Laval police spokeswoman Stéphanie Béchara. This Rubs branch is located in a small shopping center called Faubourg Dagenais in the Laval-Ouest sector. It is surrounded by various shops and a day care center.
No one was injured apart from the victim. The restaurant’s owner, contacted by La Presse, said he had “nothing to say”.
The target, in his 40s, was hit in the lower body and taken to the hospital. However, his life is not in danger, says Ms. Béchara. At the time of writing this article, he had not yet been met by investigators.
The link between the victim and the suspect has not yet been identified.
The restaurant was evacuated and secured after the arrival of the police. As of late Thursday evening, no suspects had been arrested in the case.
