A man who may have been linked to street gangs was stabbed to death after a clash that broke out at the exit of a bar in Laval on Saturday night.

Shortly after 2am, a dispute broke out between an unspecified number of people outside a restaurant on rue Claude-Gagné, near Place Belle.

The emergency services then localized a man injured in the upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to our information, the victim is Vick Sévère Paul, 51 years old.

No arrests have been made in the case.

criminal past

The Saint-Jérôme resident was said to have been part of Haitian street gangs, the media reported a decade ago.

However, the Laval Police Service does not confirm whether there was a connection between the dispute and the victim’s criminal record.

Sévère Paul was notably arrested in 2009 for attempted murder in the Niagara Falls area.

Then, in 2012, he was arrested as part of Operation Loquace, which led to the dismantling of a large criminal network of drug dealers. He was sentenced to two years less a day for drug trafficking.

His brother Lamartine Sévère Paul, a member of the Rouges, was killed in Laval in 2012. His cousin Ducarme Joseph, former leader of the Saint-Michel street gang, was murdered in 2014.
