Law Order SVU Recap Did Benson and Stabler Actually

Law & Order: SVU Recap: Did Benson and Stabler Actually Kiss?

If you’re here, it’s probably because you want to know if Capt. Olivia Benson and Det. Elliot Stabler actually kissed Law & Order: SVU this week. After all, the promo certainly made it seem like that was a possibility.

The short answer? nope But you’ll want to find out what happened. (It wasn’t nothing!)

Liv and El’s tight moment came during an episode in which Oscar Papa, the head of the brutal BX9 gang, was brought to justice. An enraged Liv, who hadn’t forgotten for a second how Papa had threatened Noah’s safety and well-being, was in tears to ensure the crime boss was brought to justice for his various crimes. Meanwhile, the boy in question was hanging out with his half-brother Connor and his family elsewhere in the state.

A lot of complications ensued. A witness was poisoned despite police protection. Another had complications that sent him to the hospital. And then became Capt. Duarte attacked with machetes in a bodega by BX9 members. Despite being taken to the hospital, Duarte didn’t make it – and dad basically admits to ordering the murder.

He says he will plead guilty to murder “but not to the rapes,” and Benson takes a promise Noah will be harmed. Dad confirms that. “We’re even,” he says. And then all that’s left for Stabler to do is get the boy back to Manhattan because, as Benson puts it, there’s no one she trusts anymore to take care of her child.

With Noah home and safely asleep, Liv thanks her ex-partner for his help during a very difficult time. “Why did not you call me?” he asks himself. “Because I knew you would try to protect me,” she says. And while she’s looking for some sugar in the cupboard, Stabler follows to get some of her own. Buckle up folks.

MORE STABLE | And is there something wrong? I worry about you. Olivia. [It’s at this point that he brings his face very close to her face and it takes more effort for them NOT to kiss than for them to kiss. We’re talking millimeters here.]
BENSON | Elliot, Elliot, I will. I want but I can not.
MORE STABLE | Why not?
BENSON | Because what if it doesn’t work? [Still lots of close-face-ing.]
MORE STABLE | What if things work out?
BENSON | Elliot, I’m not ready for this. I’m not ready for this. I’m not ready for this. [Liv, um, are you OK? Girlfriend looks like she’s about to pass out, which, RELATABLE.]*

And that’s it! Hit the comments with your thoughts on the interlude!
