Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson has decided to take legal action against an art application that generates works using artificial intelligence and allegedly used the star’s name and image to promote its product on social networks without her knowledge.
“What’s wrong guys? It’s Scarlett and I want you to come with me. [L’application] is not limited to avatars. You can also create images with texts and even your AI videos. “I think you don’t want to miss this,” was seen and heard in a 22-second commercial reported by Variety on Wednesday, according to The Independent.
Except that the Marvel actress had nothing to do with the promotion of the art application “Lisa AI: 90s Yearbook & Avatar,” which circulated freely on X last Saturday before being removed from the network.
Beneath the ad, it said in small print that the images were “produced by Lisa AI” and had “nothing to do with this person.”
For his part, Scarlett Johansson’s lawyer, Kevin Yorn, confirmed that his client was not a spokesperson for the application and that she did not consent to the use of her image, name and voice in this ad.
“We don’t take these things lightly. In line with our normal practice in the circumstances, we will address this matter using all legal means available to us,” he told Variety, according to British media.
She is not the first celebrity to have to take action: at the beginning of October, Tom Hanks denounced on social networks an advertisement for a dental care plan that would have taken care of him from start to finish without his consent.
