(Montreal) A lawyer known for his decades of work defending consumer rights in Quebec, Jacques St-Amant, has been reported missing from his Montreal home by police, who are asking the public for help in locating him.

Mr St-Amant, who is 62, would have sent his message for the last time on Thursday, leaving his residence in the Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie sector.
Investigators with the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) say they have reason to fear for his health and safety, but they have very little information about his recent movements other than to say he is used to libraries to visit.
Jacques St-Amant, a white man, is 1.85 meters tall and weighs approximately 86 kilograms. His hair is grey, long and he has blue eyes.
Police are unable to describe the clothes he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
Jacques St-Amand is a co-founder of Option consommateurs. He is a recognized strategic advisor, analyst with the Coalition of Consumer Associations of Quebec, and lecturer in consumer law.
In April 2019, then-Attorney General Sonia LeBel presented him with the Office de la protection du consommateur award in recognition of his outstanding research work, his contribution to the advancement of legal knowledge and his rare expertise, particularly in terms of payment systems.
