A little less than two months ago, Paolo Guerrero was introduced with great fanfare by LDU Quito as a brand new reinforcement for the second half of the 2023 season. The ‘Predator’ got off to a promising start, needing just one game to score his first goal, but since then he has been experiencing a drought that is already making fans uncomfortable. However, the club still strongly supports its striker, although they also recognize that he is not going through the best moment of his career.
In an interview with the Ecuadorian portal Federación Postera, coach Esteban Paz commented on the situation that the 39-year-old footballer is experiencing. “We are clear that he is not a player who is at the peak of his career, but is in his final moments,” he reflected.
For Paz, the captain of the Peruvian team’s contribution in the league is not limited to scoring goals, but with his experience he helps his teammates shine. “He is a player with many requirements and qualities. His football helps the team so that others can score in the end,” he said.

In this sense, he defended Guerrero for his few goals, pointing out that in the team there is no shooter who stands out from the others. “History shows that the team that wins the tournament has a definite goalscorer. We don’t have this goalscorer in the league, the goals are spread out. I always trust that tomorrow will be a better day and that Paolo will start scoring goals from tomorrow. “We trust that he will implement them,” he concluded.
When does Paolo Guerrero play at LDU?
The striker’s next game with the Albo club will be the clash against Orense, on the seventh day of the second round in the LigaPro of Ecuador, this Friday, September 22nd. The duel will take place at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium starting at 7:00 p.m. (Peruvian and Ecuadorian time).
