The Future Care Lab’s most eye-catching creation to date looks like a small, pastel-colored spaceship that’s actually a shower.
To eliminate the risk of falls associated with traditional showers or the complexity of bathing, the resident is placed on a chair and pushed into the vessel. The employee can then clean it with a shower head.
For Saori Haga, technology should not replace human contact. Staff are always needed to help with feeding or washing. Rather, it is about simplifying and facilitating marginal tasks, she emphasizes.
