Léa Seydoux believes Hollywood is not kind to aging actresses

Léa Seydoux is already “afraid” of the consequences of aging on her career.

The value doesn't depend on the number of years… but in Hollywood, concerns about age for actresses start early. The former James Bond girl said she believes it is difficult for actresses to find work in Hollywood as they let their age take its natural course.

“The industry in America… I think it’s difficult for women. It's difficult for women to get older,” Léa Seydoux told Harper's Bazaar.

And the 37-year-old actress, who works in both Europe and the United States, admitted she feared losing work opportunities because of her changing appearance over the years. “I don’t want to be afraid of not being desirable or losing my contract. In America it's economic, and when it comes to making money, you lose your freedom,” she added.

The French actress also admitted that it was easier for her to work on her home continent. “I don’t feel comfortable with having to tick all the boxes. In Europe it is easier to be a woman on screen,” says the heroine of “Un beau matin”.

However, the actress, who played Madeleine Swann in the 007 films Ghost and No Time to Die, admitted she had no complaints given the trajectory of her career. “I'm really happy with the roles that I'm given… I'm not frustrated,” she agreed, before emphasizing, like many French artists in America: “For someone who is not purely American, it is difficult “To be the headliner of a Hollywood film.”
