Ice Universe has provided more details on the upcoming Galaxy S23 series update. Last month the leaker spoke about the upcoming update, the update would include many camera-specific changes. While the leaker appears to have misjudged Samsung’s release schedule, the company has now officially confirmed the various changes on its South Korean community forums.
According to Ice Universe, Samsung will deliver this camera-focused update with build number WE9 as a download of around 1.5GB. As seen in the screenshot below, Samsung has added 2x zoom in portrait mode, which is likely a 12MP crop from the normal 50MP photo. In theory, the results should be lossless, but that remains to be seen at this point. In addition, with the same update it should be possible to refine HDR photos and the night mode in the Samsung camera application.
Meanwhile, Samsung will soon be releasing WD3, a much more modest update. Specifically, WD3 will only add the ability to transfer video calls between a smartphone and a tablet. Samsung has not yet announced the release date of the WD3. However, the company typically takes a few weeks to roll out updates worldwide, meaning some markets are likely to get WD3 and WE9 before others.
