Wentworth actress Leanna Walsman and former Home and Away heartthrob Stephen Peacocke will join the cast of Channel Nine’s new crime drama Human Error.

The six-part series centers on a female detective who uncovers a criminal conspiracy that threatens to destroy her entire life.

Production of the show, which will star Wolf Creek’s Matt Day, has already begun in Melbourne, reports TV Blackbox.

Talent behind the scenes on the series includes writer and producer Greg Haddrick of the Underbelly franchise.

Inspired by true events, the series follows detective Holly O’Rourke (Walsman) as she investigates a seemingly routine murder.

Things get complicated when Holly leads her assassination team into a web of intrigue that ultimately threatens her family.

The show will also feature rising star and 2022 Heath Ledger Award winner Rahel Romahn as a detective who becomes involved in Holly’s case.

Veteran Australian actor Steve Bisley from Mad Max plays Holly’s father, while Matt Day plays her husband Luke.

Meanwhile, Peacocke plays the character Dylan Mackenzie, a co-investigator involved in Holly’s case.

Other cast members include Rob Collins (Mystery Road), Jane Allsop from House Husbands and Anthony J Sharpe, who recently starred in Stan’s hit series Black Snow.

Other co-stars include Emily Joy (Fisk), Ethan Lwin (Joe vs. Carol), Debra Lawrence (Please Like Me) and Daniela Farinacci (East West 101).

Human Error could be the ideal sequel to Nine’s hit Underbelly series, which has been running since 2008.

The franchise garnered huge ratings earlier this year for the controversial two-part drama Underbelly: Vanishing Act about con artist Melissa Caddick.

Channel Nine’s Head of Drama Andy Ryan said Human Error will be the must-see crime drama of 2023.

“The Nine Network has always been the home of Australian crime drama,” he said.

The show, which is supported by VicScreen and Screen Australia, is produced by Underbelly producer Greg Haddrick and Dan and John Edwards (Bump).

Writer Samantha Winston (Les Norton) is also on board as a producer, while Underbelly writer John Sylvester is serving as a consultant on the series.

Ned Kelly (2003) director Gregor Jordan will write the series with Haddrick and Winston.

Human Error is produced by local company Roadshow Rough Diamond with Channel Nine.

The show is distributed internationally by the British ITV Studios.

Fans will be able to watch Human Error 2023 on Nine and 9Now.
