The Cégep Garneau in Quebec announced on Tuesday that after the dissemination of a table studied in a course defining left and right, it would carry out checks on social networks.
“We understand that the information contained within raises questions. We will carry out the necessary verifications with the persons concerned,” the Cégep said on Twitter.

The table, distributed in a political science course, defines and compares the terms left and right according to various topics: human, society, culture, history, economics and politics.
According to this table, the man on the right is defined as “selfish, irrational, a slave to his impulses and his instincts”, while the man on the left would be “altruistic, rational, master of himself”.
The teacher who developed this comparison sheet has no idea about political science, but at least he “fits” in all subjects of diversity.

Likewise, the right-wing society is a society “based on competition and hierarchy, with the valorization of elites,” while the left-wing society is “based on cooperation, equality and fairness, and the valorization of elites all, including minorities and marginalized groups.”
The Cégep published a reaction letter on Twitter, which said: “Our educational institution does not promote any current or political family.”
“Cégep Garneau has various mechanisms in place to ensure the quality of teaching, including the procedure for resolving complaints and disputes related to teaching,” it said.
Students are asked to fill out the complaint form in the event of a dispute with a professor and the institution ensures that strict follow-up is applied.
