Lehouillier convinces of a return to the theme of the 3rd road link – Le Journal de Quebec

Based on the scenario of a long-term Canadian population explosion, Gilles Lehouillier said he was confident that the record of a WW3e Road connection will “appear again sooner or later”.

“Canada will become a new welcome country for massive immigration. In Lévis, 4500 new citizens have joined our city in the last two years. It is clear that the congestion problems will soon resurface at some point when we return to normal,” the mayor of Lévis dropped on Monday evening a few minutes before the start of the municipal council.

The latter referred to a series of articles published by Le Journal in recent days, which hypothesized that by the year 2100 Canada could have a population of 100 million.

Keep the idea alive

According to Mr Lehouillier, “It is to be expected that sooner or later we will have to find a solution to the existence of these two [les deux ponts actuels]. I am convinced that the population and business people will keep the idea alive.”

The mayor of Lévis also said he agreed with his colleagues at MRC de Bellechasse, who left unhappy with a meeting last week with Transport Minister Geneviève Guilbault. “I was convinced that they would not be convinced by Ms. Guilbault because the government made a decision that went against the will of the people,” he said.

Economic mission in France

On the other hand, from May 20th to 27th, Gilles Lehouillier will take part in an economic mission to several French cities such as Paris, Toulon, Nantes and Nice.

Organized by the Association of Suppliers of Chantier Davie, the mission aims to “allow about thirty economic operators from different regions of Quebec to build solid and long-term partnerships, to take advantage of the best practices in construction and, above all, to position our great region on the international ones Markets cheap,” we read in a press release issued by the municipality on Tuesday evening.
