Leo Carlsson prevents the worst

Leo Carlsson was able to avoid the worst, but will still be out for four to six weeks due to a medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain.

The Ducks' rookie suffered a serious injury Thursday night against the Flames when MacKenzie Weegar fell on his leg.

After the game, Ducks head coach Greg Cronin didn't seem overly optimistic, but Saturday's results were encouraging.

Carlsson, who is playing his first season in the National Hockey League, will therefore be able to return to play this season.

This season, the forward scored eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in 23 games.

His loss could mean more training appearances for Benoit-Olivier Groulx, who played in 20 games in 2023-2024. Anaheim sits seventh in the National Hockey League's Pacific Division with 12 wins in 32 games.
