Columnist Leo Dias from the Metrópoles portal took to social media this Thursday (30) to comment on the barrage of criticism he continues to receive for the exposure and revictimization of actress Klara Castanho. Metrópoles issued a statement on Tuesday (28), informing that they would not fire the columnist despite the intense pressure he had suffered on social media.
Leo Dias reiterated his apology made on Sunday (26) and announced that he would be traveling for a while with his friend, publicist Gilberto Júnior. He posted a ticket he bought to Jordan and the United Arab Emirates on social media.
The journalist also tried to play the victim, saying he was the target of “a lot of hate” and that he would “keep the names of those” who criticized him. “I made a mistake, I apologized and the hate I got… I don’t hold grudges, okay? Let it be clear I keep names, just names. Tomorrow a new chapter in my life begins,” he said.
In a note published on Sunday, Dias said he was approached by an employee at a private hospital and Klara spoke to him about it. Even after pledging not to reveal the story, Leo Dias did. He told the story to people close to him and behind the scenes at the Press Trophy and spoke about it indirectly on Danilo Gentili’s The Night programme, which contributed to the exhibition. Then, after an open letter from the actress, he shared details of what happened on his blog.
As he travels the world, Leo Dias may have to respond to a lawsuit brought before the Federal District Union of Professional Journalists Ethics Council. The National Federation of Journalists (Fenaj) called the agency and claimed that the columnist violated the code of ethics for journalists in Brazil.
