‘Let the girl live her life’: Fans rush to Malia Obama’s defense after she is punished for smoking – Atlanta Black Star

Malia and Sasha Obama left the White House more than six years ago, but much of the public remains keenly interested in keeping up with young adults.

America watched the daughters of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama grow up during their eight years in the executive mansion in Washington, DC

When the Illinois senator took office, Malia and Sasha were 10 and 7 years old, respectively. The girls went from tiny elementary school students to stylish teenagers who never seemed to get into any mishaps.

Until then, photos of the sisters taken by lurking paparazzi doing everyday activities like grocery shopping or partying with friends or just being out and about have at times sparked online discussions about the way they live their lives.

Malia, 25, and Sasha, 22, were recently criticized for sharing a shared puff of cigarettes.

The young adults were observed smoking more than once. Over Labor Day weekend, University of Southern California graduate Sasha was spotted smoking and leaving a party with two friends.

Big sister Malia was last caught smoking in Los Angeles on October 4th. According to Page Six, the Harvard graduate was also caught smoking marijuana while attending the Lollapalooza festival in her hometown of Chicago in 2016.

On Twitter, one person noted: “IRONY: After wearing ‘Smoking Kills’ t-shirt, Malia Obama puffs on cigarette outside LA store.”

“Whether it’s Malia Obama smoking a cigarette or Eric Trump defrauding charities, former presidents’ children on both sides have brought disrepute to their families,” another wrote.

Other users commented in defense of the sisters. “There is no reason for them to take these photos and put them on the news. She minds her own business and doesn’t break any laws. We are now two presidents after her father. Let the girl live her life!” read one.

“They harass these girls like the Bush twins. Leave her alone, damn it!” another person exclaimed. On “Imagine taking a picture and then saying “Got it,” another picture of the Obama girls smoking.”

During his presidential campaign and during his first term as commander in chief, Barack openly expressed his efforts to quit his own cigarette smoking habit. He talked about using nicotine gum to help him suppress his urges. He later admitted sneaking into secluded areas of the White House for a smoke break to deal with the president’s stress.

However, he reportedly finally gave up this habit in 2011.
