Letícia Cazarré took to social media this Friday (October 20) to ask for prayers for her daughter Maria Guilhermina, whose temperature and heart rate are unstable.

The youngest daughter of Letícia and Juliano Cazarré has already been hospitalized several times and is being monitored at home by a team of medical professionals to avoid having to return to the hospital.

“Since yesterday, we have been working hard with a team of 6 doctors and 5 physiotherapists to keep this princess at home without having to be hospitalized again! Pray for them. We are carrying out all the tests to find out why her temperature and heart rate are unstable… But her general appearance is very good!” wrote Letícia.

On September 10, the 1yearold baby was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after experiencing fever and difficulty breathing. She spent a week on intravenous antibiotics and was discharged on the 21st of the same month.

Maria Guilhermina’s disease

Maria Guilhermina underwent surgery shortly after birth to correct a congenital heart problem called Ebstein anomaly.

Ebstein anomaly is a rare heart malformation and is usually detected during prenatal examinations. This is a deformation of the tricuspid valve, the largest valve in the heart muscle, whose job is to control blood flow in the body.

During the birth phase of the child, the valve does not close properly, which can lead to heart failure after birth.

“In children with Ebstein’s anomaly, one of the components of the tricuspid valve adheres to the wall of the right ventricle and cannot move, as this causes blood to escape into the atrium and severely impedes blood flow, resulting in dilatation of the atrium.” , explained the cardiologist Beatriz Furlanetto from the Hospital Beneficência Portuguesa on her social networks.

In severe cases, this defect can cause the heart to enlarge during the embryonic period so that the lungs are not sufficiently developed, leading to breathing problems after birth. In this case, the chance that the baby will live after birth is almost zero because the damage is irreversible.
