Lewis Capaldi reveals he struggles to find romance despite his celebrity status

‘Not a single person has slipped into my DMs in a romantic way – I feel betrayed’: Lewis Capaldi admits his status as a celebrity hasn’t helped him find love

Lewis Capaldi revealed Monday night that despite being a celebrity, he struggles to find romance.

The 26-year-old singer was the first guest on Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson’s new nightly radio show, HITS UK with Sam Thompson, in which the pair spoke about love.

Sam, who is now in a happily relationship with Love Island star Zara McDermott, confessed he first joined the cast of Made In Chelsea when he was 20 to get a date as he thought the Fame would bag him a girlfriend – but he ended up getting less action.

Lewis agreed, sharing that he was looking for fame because he wanted to find a girl, but wasn’t lucky at all in love.

The singer said: “First of all, when I was younger – and I was never the most classically handsome man – I was always told that if you make music, girls will like you.

“So basically I learned how to play the guitar, shaped my whole personality around the fact that I can make music, got famous and I’m like here we go!”

Lewis added: “I wonder which Victoria’s Secret model I’ll have on my arm, which beautiful, intelligent, incredibly famous musician or actress I’ll wear, and I can honestly say that not a single person has slipped into my DMs in a romantic way. I feel cheated.”

His words come despite the fact that he has previously been linked to model, actress and dancer Ellie McDowell and dated student Catherine Halliday.

Elsewhere during the HITS UK interview, the pair discussed Christmas, with Sam revealing there was a disaster at his family dinner because he ruined their potatoes by burning them.

They also talked about Lewis’ upgraded tour bus, which is now a Star bus and has a double bed in it.

Hitmaker Lewis also spoke about his new single Pointless and why it didn’t make Christmas number one.

Their chat came after Sam and Lewis sparked a bromance last year when the singer headlined the Birmingham Hits Live show.

Lewis had challenged Sam to dance topless in front of the stage during his set as he sang “Forget Me” and the two are now good friends.

This week’s guest program on Sam’s new show includes talks with DJ Sigala and chart-topping and five-time Brit nominee Raye.

HITS UK with Sam Thompson airs Monday to Thursday from 7pm to 10pm and Sam is joined by the biggest names in music, film and television.
