Liam Hemsworths alleged affairs are trending again on Twitter after

As Miley Cyrus continues to climb the charts with her instant hit and self-love anthem “Flowers,” rumors linger on Twitter that her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth cheated on her during their marriage.

Cyrus has neither confirmed nor denied whether these rumors are true (or whether they inspired the song, as many fans think). Here’s what we know:

Is ‘Flowers’ about Liam Hemsworth who cheats?

Last week, Cyrus, 30, broke the internet after sharing the infectious and danceable track “Flowers,” capturing fans’ attention with lyrics chronicling someone making their own minds up over a failing relationship.

While Cyrus didn’t break down the lyrics or reveal exactly what they’re alluding to, many fans were convinced (and shared their many theories on TikTok and Twitter) that the jam was written about Hemsworth’s reported infidelity when the two were married.

Since the track’s release date was Hemsworth’s birthday (January 13), many Twitter users suspected the lyrics may have been inspired by Cyrus’ on-going relationship with the 33-year-old actor, which ended for good in 2019 along with their wedding.

Why do fans think Hemsworth was unfaithful to Cyrus?

A viral Twitter rumor that surfaced after Cyrus released “Flowers” claims that Hemsworth cheated on her with 14 women in the same house where the song’s music video was filmed.

This rumor appears to have stemmed from a Jan. 13 tweet from pop culture watcher Pop Tingz, which read, “The house where the music video for Miley Cyrus ‘Flowers’ was shot was previously used by Liam Hemsworth to house Miley with cheating on more than 14 women while they were married.” Although the tweet has received thousands of likes and retweets, it has yet to be verified by a legitimate news source.

Another unconfirmed — but popular — claim from supposed insiders is that Hemsworth once dedicated Bruno Mars’ 2012 hit “When I Was Your Man” to Cyrus at their wedding, and that her “Flowers” lyrics are a nod to the are written by Mars.

The story goes on

A line from Mars’ song that seems to support this theory is, “I should have bought you flowers and held your hand.” Cyrus notably sings on “Flowers,” “I can buy yourself flowers,” and later, “I can hold my own hand”.

Cyrus & Hemsworth’s relationship timeline

Cyrus and Hemsworth famously met on the set of The Last Song in June 2009 and began dating soon after. You supposedly first broke up (according to E!) in August 2010, got back together in September of that year, broke up in November, and got back together in April 2011.

In March 2012, engagement rumors began to circulate. Hemsworth officially confirmed their proposal in June of that year and they called off their engagement in September 2013.

The roller coaster ride continued when the couple confirmed they got back together in October 2016 and rekindled their engagement (again!), finally tying the knot in December 2018. Unfortunately, the two separated in August 2019 and Hemsworth filed for divorce.

In a poignant interview with Howard Stern in December 2020, the “Malibu” singer became vulnerable about her and Hemsworth’s relationship. According to her, her traumatic experience of losing her Malibu home in a fire led to her December 2018 wedding.

“We’ve been together ever since [I was] 16,” Cyrus explained. “Our house burned down. We were like engaged — I don’t know if we really ever thought we’d actually get married, but when we lost our home in Malibu — what if you hear my voice before and after the fire, they’re very different, so the trauma really affected my voice.”

“I lost everything … And when I was trying to put that back together, instead of being like, ‘Oh, nature kind of did something I couldn’t do for myself; it forced me to let go,’ I ran to the fire.” Cyrus explained, adding that she “held on to what I had left of this house that was me and him.”

Cyrus stressed at the time that there was no bad blood between her and Hemsworth after the breakup. “I really do and loved him very, very, very much and still will,” she said.

“Flowers” is the lead single from their forthcoming eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation, out March 10th.
