A Liberal MP got into trouble after he appeared to link the shooting that left four people dead in Winnipeg over the weekend to Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s speech.

“It is beyond disturbing to see another mass shooting in Canada, this time in Winnipeg. And we lost so many police officers. Could it be the antisocial “let’s burn everything” attitude of the far right coming to us from the United States? What about the scary guy on the Canadian side? “Pierre Poilievre?” wrote British Columbia MP Ken Hardie on X on Monday.
These comments caused a real outcry. More than 3,000 internet users replied to him, the vast majority condemning his comments.
The head of government in the House of Commons, Karina Gould, assured on Tuesday that she would give her colleague a lecture.
“It was completely inappropriate and not something anyone should say about a party,” she admitted to reporters.

Recall that five people were shot in a residential building in Winnipeg on Saturday night. Four of them, including two sisters, died while a 55-year-old man remains in critical condition.
No suspect has been arrested in connection with this killing.
