Linda later appeared in Coffy (1973), The Nickel Ride (1974) and Rolling Thunder (1977), in which she played a distraught barmaid.
In 1979, she starred in Human Experiments, a film about incarcerated women.
This was followed in 1980 by her role in Brubaker, another prison film.
Haynes’ last role was in the 1980s TV movie Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones.
According to the entertainment outlet, acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino once gushed about her talent.
“THE performance in the film for me is Linda Haynes as Linda Forchet!” She was in one of the pajamas for the first QT Fest THE NICKEL RIDE, she was in Pam Grier’s COFFY… she was the girl who grabs an afro in Grier’s when she has the razors in and “aaaahhhh.”
“But Linda Forchet is my favorite female character in a Paul Schrader film.” She has that look that Ava Gardner had, you know, blouse-like, but it took Ava years and Linda Haynes pulled it off naturally. And I mean that in a good way,” the filmmaker marveled.
Linda is survived by her son Gregory Leif Sylvander, daughter-in-law Courtney Lynn Sylvander, and grandchildren James Riley Sylvander and Amelia Grace Sylvander.
She also left behind beloved cats, Bingo and Bluey, and dogs, Rex, Biggie, and Raya.
