“Lisa LeBlanc Symphonique”: between “Redneck” and “Glamour”

After seducing Quebec last February with this proposal that might be considered unusual – but not at all – Lisa LeBlanc warmed the hearts of the Montreal audience on Friday evening with her symphony show.

The latter also returned the device well, fired him up from start to finish and even refused to leave the room when the lights in the room were turned back on. “What a night!” We won't forget that. I love you in Christ,” the New Brunswick native exclaimed at the end of her talk in Montreal.

Arriving on stage with guitar in hand, the singer-songwriter, who admitted during her performance that she was halfway between the redneck side and the glamor of her album Chiac Disco, opened with a gentle instrumental opening their show, one of their last on tour with the Kraft Dinner ballad.

She then played the piece “Dans l'jus” and her anthem “Why do it today”, whereupon half of the audience stood up and applauded her with palpable enthusiasm for several minutes.

“You’ll make me cry by the third song, let’s see,” she said to the room, probably moved. “It's still Wilfrid-Pelletier, there's not a bit of booger here,” she added with a laugh, before continuing with a string of some of her old hits, including “J'pas a cowboy” and “City Slickers and Coutry Boys.”

In the room, some people had brought New Brunswick flags that they waved proudly, others had donned their sequined tops or dressed in their best clothes.

Later, during the presentation, the floor of the room was transformed into a dance floor at the invitation of the singer from Rosaireville, in particular for the track Do you want to enter my bubble?.

The audience stayed on their feet as bingo queen Belinda (Lisa LeBlanc's alter ego) performed her piece “It's Not a Game, It's a Lifestyle.”

The comedian François Pérusse was also present at the performance of Gossip II on Friday evening.

The symphonic formula of this show allowed Lisa LeBlanc to breathe new life into her latest work, Chiac Disco, released two years ago. The symphonic arrangements are by Antoine Graton, who also took care of the album's string arrangement.

The disco rocker was accompanied on Friday evening by the Laval Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Jean-Michel Malouf.

The National Arts Orchestra will perform in Ottawa on March 15. This will be the very last concert of his tour.
