Lisa Vanderpump Explains Pump ‘Left the Building’: ‘That’s Over’

After 10 years in the business, Lisa Vanderpump and many of the stars of her hit reality show Vanderpump Rules celebrated one last time at her pump restaurant.

The 62-year-old entrepreneur announced in May that she was closing the legendary West Hollywood restaurant after 10 years in business due to rent increases.

Vanderpump was joined by Katie Maloney, Lala Kent, Scheana Shay and other reality show cast members to celebrate the final night at the Pump.

Taking to Instagram, the Pump Restaurant shared a series of snaps from last night, including Lisa and her husband Ken Todd at the restaurant’s final meal.

Andres Sosa also shared a snap of some of the other Pump employees with Vanderpump in the background, adding, “Shortest shift in history with the chef @lisavanderpump at @pumprestaurant.” #laliving #pumprestaurant #vanderpumprules #losangeles.

Shay shared a short video of Vanderpump addressing the crowd and saying, “My pump boys you are exceptional, love you so many of you!” So officially I’d say that’s done and the pump left the building.”

Vanderpump took to social media in early May to announce the closure of Pump with a heartfelt statement.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that the Pump Restaurant’s lease is expiring and we will be closing its doors on July 5, after 10 years of beautiful evenings under our olive trees,” she wrote.

“As a family, we look to the future of the Vanderpump facilities and will be opening at least two more restaurants with Caesars Entertainment in the coming year,” she added of the new Las Vegas restaurants.

“While we thoroughly enjoyed the time we have been running Pump, we are not ready to commit to another 10-year lease with a huge rent increase from landlords. “Having successfully operated 37+ facilities for many years, this type of rental is unsustainable,” they continued.

Sources close to Lisa and her husband, Ken Todd, told TMZ that Pump’s annual rent would be nearly $1 million, a number the couple felt was “ridiculous” and unwilling to pay .

The sources also claimed that their previously closed restaurant, Villa Blanca, suffered a similar fate.

The Beverly Hills restaurant closed in 2020 in response to a rent increase, though the landlord appears not to have received the increase as the location has been vacant for the past three years.

The publication’s sources said Vanderpump has made sure to keep Pump open through June due to Pride Month, which is a particularly big thing in gay-friendly West Hollywood.

They added that the former Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star wanted to “support the local community with one last hooray.”

Although Lisa and her husband now have a restaurant in LA, they still have the well-known Sur and TomTom restaurants in the area.

“We look forward to welcoming you all to TomTom & Sur over the coming months!” “Thank you for the last decade of support. We enjoyed our employees, our guests and our time together,” the Pump Family added in their statement.

Back in March, Pump faced other issues after its liquor license was suspended.

According to the WeHo Times, the restaurant lost its license on March 8, as did Tom Tom, although the latter regained its license two days later.
