There was a deadly knife attack at a Muslim center in Lisbon. The alleged perpetrator killed two people and seriously injured two others. He was shot by police.
An assailant stabbed two people at a Muslim center in Lisbon. Two other people were seriously injured, Portuguese police said. The fatal victims are two women aged between 20 and 40 years. The alleged perpetrator of the crime was arrested.
So the police were called downtown in the late morning, where officers found a “suspect armed with a large knife”. He refused to drop the knife and approached the officers.
According to the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, the man was shot by the police, arrested and taken to hospital. He was seriously injured, police confirmed to the dpa news agency. A terrorist attack is presumed.
The act at the so-called Ismaili center is a criminal act, Costa said. Everything indicates that it was a single incident. Armed police from a special unit could be seen outside the building.
