Among the long list of Michel Côté’s close friends who are mourning today is comedian Lise Dion. She has been in regular contact with him since she became friends with his wife Véronique Le Flaguais on the set of the television series “Le petit monde de Laura Cadieux” twenty years ago.
“She became a good friend and due to the circumstances, I was often with Michel. When I was in a relationship, he was the one who convinced us to buy the country house where I’ve lived for 15 years. He advised us, he even came by to exchange the high beam with my wife. We had great times together. It’s tough this morning,” Lise Dion told the Journal.
Like thousands of Quebecers, she believes we have just lost a great artist and great human being.
- Hear director Émile Gaudreault pay tribute to Michel Côté, available via QUB radio :
“Michel Côté belongs to the category of immortals. It’s a shock like Jean-Marc Vallée. Seventy-two is still young. Before he got sick, he was doing really well, Michel. He took care of his health.
“He gave me advice. He said to me: “If you’re offered a film, Lise, and you see that your role might be cut short during editing, you don’t take it.” He gave a lot of advice to young actors in the cinema.”
