Lithuania provides more military aid to Ukraine news

Lithuania provided Ukraine with more military aid to defend itself against Russia. The EU and NATO Baltic country delivered launchers and other equipment for the Nasams air defense system to Kiev on Friday, the Defense Ministry in Vilnius announced yesterday. Anti-drone systems and generators were also delivered.

“We have listened to Ukraine’s needs and we call on our allies to listen to them too,” Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas said in a statement. Anusauskas traveled to Ukraine unannounced and met with President Volodymyr Zelensky and his counterpart Rustem Umjerov in Kiev.

“We talked about crucial support for Ukraine,” he wrote on Twitter (X). On the platform, Zelensky thanked the EU and NATO Baltic country for its assistance: “I am grateful for Lithuania’s absolutely real military, political and popular support for Ukraine and the Ukrainians.”

Lithuania is one of Ukraine’s most determined supporters internationally. According to Ministry of Defense estimates, the Baltic State has provided aid worth more than a billion euros since the start of the Russian war of aggression in February 2022 – which corresponds to more than 1.2 percent of economic output from the country. About half of that was military aid.
