- The Darwin family stopped at Airlie Beach County Fair on their caravanning holiday
- Savannah Pearson, 6, sent Poppy, 4, into a claw machine to retrieve a teddy bear
- Poppy then gets stuck and a messy but hilarious video shows her father rescuing her
A toddler has been trapped in an arcade pinball machine while on vacation after following the shady advice of his mischievous big sister and attempting to ‘steal’ a toy from inside.
Hilarious footage shows Poppy Pearson, four, sobbing in the machine after Savannah, six, persuaded her to pick up a teddy bear at a county fair in Airlie Beach, Queensland.
Her mum Melanie Pike and partner Brett Pearson told Chron Australia they couldn’t help but laugh at their adorable antics.
“My partner’s trade is Chippy (carpenter), so I knew he was going to get her out,” Ms. Pike said.
“He’s the real hero. I just laughed and filmed.”

Mr. Pearson asked Poppy to squat and then stretch her legs forward as she escaped through the hole
He was then able to pull her out before warning her of the dangers of “stealing”.
“There you are,” he says as Poppy appears. ‘That’s why you don’t steal from machines.’
Ms Pike said since the video made the rounds on social media, the adventurous Poppy has become an instant celebrity to everyone she meets.
“She tells all her friends that she’s famous now,” Ms. Pike said.
“This is going to be a great fun story for her 18th birthday.”

Ms. Pike also thanked the staff at the venue, who responded quickly.
“They had the key and were out, so we weren’t too stressed,” she said.

It comes after a boy also climbed into a claw machine at Sugarworld Shopping Center in Cairns in May and had to be rescued by firefighters.
