  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again rejected the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza as long as Hamas holds hostages. However, in an interview with ABC News, he opened the door to “tactical pauses” to allow “the entry of goods and humanitarian products or the exit of our hostages, individual hostages.”
  • Mr. Netanyahu said that after the war, Israel should assume “overall responsibility for security” in the Palestinian territory indefinitely. Because “if we do not bear this security responsibility, we will witness the outbreak of Hamas terror,” he explained.
  • The United Nations (UN) Security Council, which had rejected four draft resolutions for a month without speaking with one voice, met again on Monday with no result. According to diplomatic sources, council members are particularly divided over how to call for a break in the war: between a “humanitarian ceasefire”, “ceasefire” or “pause”.
  • The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that it received 93 trucks carrying humanitarian aid from the Egyptian Red Crescent at the Rafah border crossing on Monday. A total of 565 aid trucks have been able to enter the Gaza Strip since October 21st.
  • The Ministry of Health in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip reports 10,022 deaths. Since the beginning of the war, most of them have been civilians. This information could not be independently verified, but according to the Pentagon, thousands of civilians were injured or killed in Gaza.
  • The “catastrophe” caused by the war between Israel and Hamas “makes the need for a humanitarian ceasefire more urgent with every hour,” pleaded the UN Secretary General. Antonio Guterres described Gaza as “a cemetery for children.”
