A humanitarian ceasefire demanded by France
During his weekly press conference after the Council of Ministers, spokesman Olivier Véran reiterated France’s position calling for a permanent and lasting humanitarian ceasefire. Olivier Véran returned to the French evacuated from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah post and explained that a total of 102 nationals had left the country.
Two groups in particular were able to leave the enclave, which has been bombed continuously by the Israeli army since October 7th, yesterday and Monday. According to Olivier Véran, they are safe in Egypt. He also returned to the eight missing Frenchmen who are believed to be held hostage by Hamas. “The government is mobilizing to find and rescue them,” the spokesman said.

ISRAEL MAY NOT “re-occupy” the Gaza Strip.
After a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in Tokyo, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Israel should not “re-occupy” the Gaza Strip after the end of the ongoing conflict with Hamas. Yesterday, the United States expressed its opposition to a possible reoccupation of Palestinian territory after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the day before that his country would assume “general responsibility for security” in Gaza “indefinitely.”

Netanyahu “did not talk about the occupation” of Gaza
“We (Israel, editor’s note) have completely withdrawn from Gaza for 17 years and reestablished a terrorist state. We can’t repeat this, that’s obvious. Once Hamas is no longer in power and its infrastructure is dismantled, Israel will do so.” “They will have to have overall responsibility for security indefinitely,” said Ron Dermer, Israel’s strategic affairs minister, during an interview on the American broadcaster MSNBC.
When asked how this responsibility should be organized, Ron Dermer, who sits as an observer in the Israeli war cabinet, admitted that the question was still open, but that after the war with Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is not talking about the occupation Gazas.”
