Kyiv says Moscow has accepted proposals for a peace deal

Russia has orally accepted the draft peace treaty proposed by Ukraine at the Istanbul talks, except for the proposal on Crimea, said David Arajamiya, leader of the ruling Ukrainian party Servant of the People, reported Russia Today (RT).

Arajamiya announced that Russia only had to confirm its position in writing.

“Our job now is more to work on the final stages of the issues we’ve already touched on and prepare for a possible meeting of presidents,” the official added.

Vladimir Medinsky, adviser to the President and head of the Russian negotiating delegation, told Interfax that the Ukrainian side has become more realistic on issues related to Ukraine’s neutral and non-nuclear status, but the draft peace treaty is not yet ready to be adopted a higher level.

According to RT, Medinski stated that at the negotiations in Istanbul the parties agreed on the status of non-aligned and non-nuclear neutrality of Ukraine, the ban on foreign military bases, the renunciation of the stationing of foreign troops and any offensive missile weapons development and production of weapons of mass destruction.

ASSURES AUSTRALIA THAT IT WILL NOT MAD UKRAINE BY SIGNING A TRADE DEAL WITH INDIA

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison defended signing a trade deal with India, arguing that the pact does not break Canberra’s support for Ukraine as New Delhi refuses to condemn Russia’s military operation and continues to trade with the country.

“This is a sensible deal and very good for Australian and Indian interests. I don’t think anyone can question Canberra’s commitment to support the Ukrainian people,” Morrison said.

According to information released by RT, the official reiterated that he will continue to support Ukraine and that he will guarantee the delivery of Bushmaster armored vehicles, which he promised to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy this Friday.

KREMLIN: WESTERN SANCTIONS POLICIES ACCELERATE EROSION OF WORLD RESERVE CURRENCY

Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Kremlin, reported that the Western sanctions policy is accelerating the erosion of the world reserve currency, “it’s an erosion of confidence in the dollar and the euro”.

In addition, he explained that, according to Suptnik, the collection in rubles will be expanded to other export lines.

“They will continue to pay in euros, the unit specified in the contracts, but precisely in rubles bought with these euros, the amount will be paid to the seller, Gazprom. At the moment it is a prototype of the system, which from now on will no doubt be extended to new lines and will play an increasingly important role in our foreign trade,” explained Peskov.

The Kremlin official predicted that in the future the world would look for an alternative to the Bretton Woods system, which continues to use the US dollar as a benchmark, the Russian news agency reported.

CHANEL RESTRICTS ITS SALES TO RUSSIAN NATIONALS

According to RT, an official Chanel store in Dubai refused to sell its products to a woman because she is of Russian origin.

The shopper said the store’s staff told her that as of April 1, the French fashion house only sells to Russian citizens who sign a document guaranteeing that they won’t buy the products from Russia enter or wear the garments or accessories in the territory of the country.

Chanel clarified to RBC that the restrictions on Russian citizens are due to sanctions passed by the European Union banning the sale of luxury goods over 300 euros.

“It seems that the legacy of the great Coco has found a way to join the Russophobic campaign to abolish Russia,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajárova commented on the event. “What is the connection between the Russian anti-Nazi operation and the French fashion house?” he asked.

He also recalled that the company’s founder, Coco Chanel, was a collaborator and agent of Nazi Germany during the years of World War II and was in contact with the French occupation authorities.

WTO DOWN ALMOST HALF ITS FORECAST FOR WORLD TRADE GROWTH

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has cut its forecast for world trade growth in 2022 by almost half due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine and its immediate aftermath of the sanctions imposed on Russia, RT published.

The agency’s director-general, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, explained that the forecast, previously set at 4.7%, was lowered to 2.5% this week due to the “impact of the war and related politics”.

The official explained that although Russia and Ukraine account for only 2.5% of world exports of goods, they are “very, very important in certain sectors”.

“I worry that a food crisis is brewing. I’m really worried about the hunger that is coming, especially in the poor countries that can least afford it,” lamented the official.
