U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet with Arab officials, including several foreign ministers and Lebanon’s caretaker prime minister, at a summit in the Jordanian capital Amman on Saturday to discuss the conflict in Israel and Gaza.

According to a statement from the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, foreign ministers from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Qatar, as well as the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, will meet with Blinken.

According to US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, Blinken met with Lebanese interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Saturday morning to discuss weeks of tension between the Iran-backed Lebanese paramilitary group Hezbollah and Israel on the Israel-Lebanese border.

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry said the focus of the summit would be on ending the war and addressing “the humanitarian catastrophe it has caused.”

Blinken also met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

During a quick photo op at the start of their meeting, neither spoke.

Qatar served as a key negotiating partner in talks with Hamas during the conflict in Israel and Gaza. The US thanks the Qataris for their help in releasing the four hostages held by the group and for partially opening the Rafah Gate between Gaza and Egypt.
