A 20-year-old woman was sentenced to six years in prison for “terrorism” in Russia for trying to burn down an aid collection point for soldiers stationed in Ukraine, Russian security services said Friday. According to the FSB, quoted by the state news agency Ria Novosti, it acted on orders from Ukraine.

Valeria Zotova was arrested in the Yaroslavl region, northeast of Moscow, in February 2023 as she planned to “set fire” to a collection point to receive clothing and food for Russians mobilized on the Ukrainian front, Ria Novosti reported.

Ukraine reportedly attacked two Russian ships

Russian President Vladimir Putin made a surprise visit to the Russian army’s headquarters for the operation in Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don (south) on the night of Thursday to Friday, the Kremlin announced. It is the Russian head of state’s second trip to Rostov in less than a month.

During this trip, according to the same source, he was accompanied by his Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and the Chief of Staff and Commander of Military Operations in Ukraine Valéri Guérassimov.

Putin received new military equipment and heard reports on the progress of the military operation in Ukraine, the statement added.
