The Russian Parliament ratifies the withdrawal from the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty
This Wednesday, the Russian Parliament ratified the withdrawal from the nuclear test ban treaty against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine and the crisis with the West. Senators passed the bill unanimously with 156 votes, paving the way for Vladimir Putin’s signature, which is beyond doubt. This law “aims to restore parity in the field of nuclear weapons control,” said a press release posted on the website of the Federation Council, the upper house of parliament, shortly before the vote. The Duma, the other chamber of the Russian state, had already approved the text last week.
