UPDATE ON DELIVERIES
The domino effect is triggered when Germany gives the green light for the delivery of Leopard tanks to Ukraine. In order to see more clearly the various pieces of information over the last few hours, the Guardian took stock.
– United States : Officials claim Washington is preparing to send dozens of its M1 Abrams main battle tanks, which deviates from its doctrine.
– Germany : Sources indicate that Chancellor Olaf Scholz could authorize the delivery of his Leopard 2 tanks.
– Poland : Warsaw said it was ready to send up to 14 of its Leopard 2 tanks and urged Berlin to authorize the transfer.
– Norway : According to the local press, the government plans to send some of their Leopard tanks.
– Finland : The country has said it could also donate a certain number of its Leopard 2 tanks if other European countries made a commitment.
– Spain : ditto for Madrid, which wanted to make its participation conditional on the prior existence of an agreement at European level on the subject.
– United Kingdom : The British government announced on January 14th that it would deploy a squadron – 14 – of its Challenger 2 main battle tanks.
