In addition to the hunger and fatigue that afflicts all campers in “Get Me Out of Here!”, she had to jump into the sea from a helicopter and was subjected to a challenge in “The Star of Hell”. Immobilized, she had to kill crabs, earthworms, millipedes, Let caterpillars, cockroaches and rats circulate freely around and above all on you. She surprisingly didn’t flinch during this ordeal as hundreds of thousands of Quebecers must have screamed in fear in front of their screens.

The 22-year-old, daughter of comedian Maxim Martin, has learned to remain calm in the face of obstacles thanks to hypnosis, she told the agency QMI. “It’s not hypnosis like Messmer’s, it’s almost a meditation you do with yourself. I put myself into self-hypnosis; I breathed, I told myself I was safe, that there were many people around me. It didn’t hurt and the bugs tickled me,” she said.

But his reaction was very different when he saw the episode in question. “I was screaming in my apartment! Seeing it and doing it are not the same!”

Livia Martin, who is happy to have overcome her fears while filming last summer, describes herself as a balanced “mix” between the bravest and the most anxious girl in the world. “My concern was mental health through the Fondation Jeunes en tête. I wanted to prove how strong the mind is!”

She was always concerned about her inner well-being. No wonder, then, that she asked for a psychologist in October 2017 at the age of 17 after the death of her lover Clément Ouimet in a bicycle accident on Mount Royal. “There are still so many taboos around mental health, we need to keep talking about it.”

However, when she had to return home after being cut off during the elimination challenge aired this Sunday, she was able to take solace by regaining control of her diet, a very important dimension for her.

Known as an actress and content creator on social networks, Livia also studied interior design and would like to be active again on Instagram and Co. after a break. In particular, she wants to show the development of the furnishing of her new home. The most jaded might say she’s looking for herself, but on the contrary, she says she takes the time to explore all the opportunities life throws at her.

Hard homecoming

While it was tough on the set of Get Me Out of Here!, it was her return to reality that urged her. “I was calm when I left Costa Rica, I enjoyed everything, but coming back to reality shocked me and was very difficult. Everything moves fast!” She says that this fall, on the fifth anniversary of her former lover’s death, she “re-lived through traumas, wounds that weren’t 100 percent healed yet.”

“I watch the world spin around me like they are robots. It plunged me into a mini-depression in the fall. While I’m open about mental health that I’ve sought help, I still have ups and downs, it’s still a struggle. She adds that when things go bad, it’s important for every person to seek the help they need, as this is all temporary.

The reality show Get me out of here!, produced by Productions Déferlantes in partnership with Quebecor Content, airs every Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on TVA.
