Lobster caviar poached pears The menu for the state dinner

Lobster, caviar, poached pears… The menu for the state dinner between Emmanuel Macron and Joe Biden

The two presidents will dine at the White House this Thursday evening. Between lobster, beef with parsley and artisan cheeses, a well-stocked menu is planned.

Emmanuel Macron dines at the White House this Thursday with Joe Biden on his three-day state visit to the United States, where he arrived Tuesday night. The French President, who has planned to give his American counterpart two gifts, is well received.

Lobster, beef and roasted pears

And the menu served to guests promises to be plentiful. For starters, Presidents can enjoy Maine lobster poached in butter, American caviar, and Delicata pumpkin ravioli.

The sequel is just as enticing. For the dish, the presidential couples are served a piece of beef with parsley, accompanied by triple-boiled potatoes, Jerusalem artichoke and a cream of watercress.

Guests are then offered a selection of artisanal American cheeses, including a blue cheese from an Oregon dairy, a fresh goat’s cheese from California, and a cheddar from Wisconsin.

Finally, for dessert, the American and French presidents are entitled to an “orange rag cake” and roasted pears with citrus sauce, accompanied by ice cream.

American vineyards in the spotlight

And what will the French and American delegations drink? This gourmet menu is washed down with an unfiltered Californian Chardonnay, vintage 2018 (€47 per bottle), a Cabernet Sauvignon, also Californian, vintage 2019 (€70 per bottle) and a Roederer rosé champagne (€75 per bottle).
