Juan Manuel Vargas, better known as “Loco” Vargas, is a former soccer player who was one of the most prominent stars of the Peruvian soccer team. Together with Jefferson Farfán, Claudio Pizarro and Paolo Guerrero, they formed what was colloquially called “The Fantastic Four”. However, Vargas retired from football in 2018.

After going several months without being interviewed, the former player-turned-businessman recently revealed in a conversation for YouTube channel PlayzonTV that he wasn’t happy playing ball at the professional level.

In an interview with journalist Pedro García, Vargas revealed that football no longer played a role after the death of his grandparents. “I stopped competing, I didn’t care, I wanted my grandparents to see me, I had my parents, but my grandparents were the ones who were always with me. When they died, I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ Period,’” says the player.

He adds that his grandmother died while he was in Argentina after the university sports team sold him. With this in mind, he decided to give his grandfather more experiences and took him to Italy to see a Luciano Pavarotti concert. However, upon arriving in the European country, he learned that the singer had died.

“All of this triggered the problem for me that I was already playing, but always with sadness and pain. I kept running despite all these problems. I played with an internal lack of motivation. I still haven’t gotten over it to this day,” said Juan Manuel Vargas. .

After hanging up his chimpanzees in 2018, the well-known “crazy” Vargas left football and devoted himself to running his business. However, he recently appeared as an image of a betting company and suggested that there was the possibility of hosting a sports program.
