Repeated signals from different countries and all in one direction: the possibility of supplying Western tanks to Ukraine. The British were the last to speak out. This is where the daily notebook begins.
London – says the Sky network – is considering sending numerous Challenger 2, which means that together with others they will certainly increase the potential of Kyiv. Discussions have been going on for a few weeks and the fact that the news is leaking is just confirmation of how the Allies are investigating and preparing the ground. Before Britain, other states have not ruled this out: Poland, Denmark and Finland with the Leopards, while Paris has already announced the next delivery of the lighter Amx 10. Even the Americans suspected this.
Two observations from the experts. One faction has been supporting this move by NATO for months because it believes it is essential if the conflict is to be really changed. The other believes that the resistance has to manage a heterogeneous park with logistical complications. And this also applies to the large variety of artillery, tanks and anti-aircraft. The scenario of increased aid coincides with an acute period of fighting in the Bakhmut region. The Russians claim victory, the opponents deny what is sure the death of dozens of soldiers.
A leak has surfaced on a Telegram channel about how Moscow could bend recruits who refuse to fight. Discipline Battalions would be created under orders from the Wagner Security Company, elements used as cannon fodder at the front. Behind them would be Guards units, ready to fire on those who retreated. The story is reminiscent of a similar one at the beginning of the invasion, when it was said that one of the tasks of Kadyrov’s Chechen militia was to keep the units in line at all costs. We are always in a gray area between reality, assumptions and propaganda.
Finally Sweden that doesn’t wait. Faced with Turkey’s obstacles to NATO entry, Stockholm has intensified contacts with Washington to finalize a defense agreement. The goal is an expansion of military cooperation and the possibility of building advanced depots on Swedish territory to house detachments and equipment, a model already adopted in Norway.
