An unmarried woman from Washington recently went shopping for a wedding dress despite not planning to get married any time soon.

The trip to Kita Bridal in Edmonds was planned so that Christine Gilbert could make unforgettable memories of her mother, Colleen Gilbert, who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer two years ago.

Although Christina never bought the dress, the women were able to laugh, cry and have a special day they might not have experienced otherwise.

“She said more and more, ‘I really want to see you get married,'” she said.

After Colleen was diagnosed, Christina thought about how to keep the memories of her mother that she would miss after her death, and buying a dress seemed like the perfect plan.

“What are mother and daughter doing?” she told King5. “That’s definitely something that crossed my mind, especially since she’s been saying, ‘I really want to see you get married’ more and more often.”

Cristina made it special when the whole family – Colleen has six children in total – dressed up and rode in a limousine to the store.

‘I thought what is this? It looks like a limousine. I thought, what the hell is a limousine doing here, ”Collin recalled.
